Reliquary of Beasts, Galway International Arts Festival 2021

Artists: Christie Brown (UK), Rose Robson (UK), Jo Kimmins (ROI) & Sarah Lundy (ROI), Curated by Simon Fennessy Corcoran.
Venue: 126 Artist-Run Gallery & Studios, 15 St. Bridget’s Place, Galway City.
Dates: Mon-Sun, 12 to 6 pm, Preview, 1st Sept 6 - 9 pm, runs: 2nd - 19th September 2021

126 Artist-Run Gallery is delighted to present Reliquary of Beasts, a kaleidoscope of animal practices responding to the perceptions of value and animals in art now. Reliquary of Beasts responds to how we view animals in art and the newly diverging cross-boarder practices on animal products. 126 engages this exhibition now in order to spark a critical conversation now on humanities complicated relationship and moral positions to the animal kingdom, both as product and as art subject and material. Visual artists Christie Brown, Jo Kimmins, Rose Robson and Sarah Lundy will produce an exhibition of works of, by and from animals housed at 126 which is transformed into a reliquary of animal art for Galway International Arts Festival 2021.

Creative Café
18.9.21 | 2 pm

126 Artist-run Gallery & Studios is delighted to present a Creative Café event on Animals in Art and the World at 2 pm on Saturday the 18th of September. This is a chance to sit down and discuss issues directly related to our current exhibition, Reliquary of Beasts as part of Galway International Arts Festival 2021.

We can think of no better way to end such a great and important exhibition. The Creative Café event will be seated in roundtables in a salon/café style discursive event, we encourage you to book tables of 4 or 6. We will take individual bookings but be advised you will be seated with other individuals.
The event will be lightly catered to with some refreshments. Think of it as some nibbles and a drink with friends or strangers to discuss some important and light-hearted issues. The event is broken up into Appetisers, Main Course and Dessert.
