Project Statement
Simon's work focuses around The Sheep's heart. A home style experimental exploration into the structure aesthetics and physical possibilities of animal hearts.
My intention is to create something to encourage and create conflict within the audience about the action iv take and the experiments iv conducted, to create some sort of internal or social discussion about the ethical position of the work or morality of my experiments into this animal organ for the purposes of aesthetics and curiosity within the art world, and not truly for any medical or scientific benefit.
Through creating an active work station of a would be medical researcher working with some unknown purposes to his investigation, I inevitably am making a minor unavoidable commentary into the ethical issues surrounding animal testing and animals use in medical research.
Within this iv created an aesthetic of preservation through the materials, antiseptic smells and physicality of the installations, exposing the Hearts to the public and to investigate its potentials within a space.
